With the change of seasons comes the inevitable change in wardrobes, that’s why I decided to reveal some of my sartorial secrets. Scroll through to find the best tips, tricks, and trends to try this fall.
What are the biggest fall fashion trends this year?
Every fall you can rest assured that camo, plaid, shades of green and shades of red wine will make a comeback. So if you’re a minimalist or prefer simple-chic style those are your best bets. But if you’re a trend chaser, this fall you’re in search of romantic ruffles, one-shouldered knits, velvet, floral embroidery, deconstructed mismatched layers, statement sleeves, vintage florals and all things red because it is the official color of fall 2017.
What are the best kinds of shoes to transition from summer to fall?
Now that you have put up your flip flops, reach for mules, backless loafers, ankle booties, sneakers, and pumps. And if you don’t want to break the bank, try stores like Aldo, Nordstom Rack, and Make Me Chic.
How do you wear skinny jeans with booties?
Roll the cuff of your jeans just above your boots to show them off, or opt for a cropped jean. If you tend to reach for your skinny jeans every time you’re in the mood to wear ankle boots, it’s time to change things up. Cuffing denim above the ankle (rather than trying to tuck jeans into your boots) or wearing shorter jeans allows you to wear straight leg or boyfriend jeans, too. Just think of all the possibilities! This pairing works best when you’re working with a pair of high-heeled booties—added height offsets the tomboyish look of baggy cut jeans.
Why do you have to stop wearing white after Labor Day?
You don’t have to stop wearing white after Labor Day. While you might not want to break out your white linen pants in February—unless of course, you happen to live in Florida—a snowy white coat or cable-knit sweater is clearly appropriate for the season. The idea that white should be worn exclusively between Memorial Day in late May and Labor Day in early September is said to have originated from the late 19th-century, when the upper classes took off to summer homes for the warmer months, leaving behind the grime of city life. Today, with the wonders of modern laundry and the democratization of fashion in general, we don’t need to worry about reserving our palest pieces for the summer months.
What fashion accessories are on trend this fall?
This fall is all about texture so be on the look-out for embroidered handbags, leather berets, faux fur hats, velvet bags, fishnets, itsy bitsy print mix bags. You’ll also want to shop for oversized statement jewelry and shoes that are adorned with glitter, jewels, embroidery, patches, pearls, and diamonds.
