5-fall-cocktails-recipes-autumn-apples

Bring it on, fall. It’s officially time to put up your short shorts and dig out your sweaters. If you are anything like me, that also means you will need a drink to smooth over the transition. But if you love fall, chances are you’re all about the seasonal celebratory drinks. Whatever the reason you have to raise a glass, you can rest assured because with one of these five fantastic cocktails in hand you’ll welcome fall with open arms.

1. Fireball Apple Slushy

This drink is the last hurrah for summer. Although fall is coming, there is still a little time left to enjoy a summery drink. What makes this summery slushy cocktail special is that it is not just cold, but also great for colder weather. It has notes of cinnamon that will make you think about fall fondly while the whiskey will warm you up and make you feel cozy while enjoying an icy drink.

To make a Fireball Apple Slushy, you will need 1 cup ice, 200 ml apple cider, and 50 ml Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. In a blender, combine the ingredients and blend until slushy. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with cinnamon for garnish.

2. Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned

If you like a strong drink, this is the cocktail for you. The Old Fashioned is a cocktail that has been served for a long time and it comes in many different variations. My favorite fall modification of the original cocktail is the one with maple syrup. There is something about maple syrup that just makes everything better ‒ breakfast pancakes, cocktails, the sky is the limit for this amazing nutritious sweetener.

Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned is made with 10 ml maple syrup, 5 ml water, 1 dash bitters, 60 ml bourbon, 1 orange peel, and 1 maraschino cherry. In an old-fashioned glass, combine the maple syrup, water, and bitters. Add a few ice cubes and the orange peel. Pour the bourbon on top and garnish with the maraschino cherry.

3. Royal Washington Apple

This cocktail is crisp and invigorating and it is just what you need after a tough day at work. Because of the strong flavor of Crown Royal Deluxe, the cocktail should be made with high-quality vodka to create a balance and smooth taste.

To make this cocktail, you will need 30 ml Crown Royal Deluxe, 10 ml vodka, and 10 ml apple schnapps. In a cocktail tin, mix the ingredients with ice and shake until chilled. Pour into a coupe glass and garnish with a thin slice of apple.

4. Cranberry Sauce Margarita

Cranberry Sauce Margarita could easily be served as a dessert. It is sweet, fruity, and you should have too much of it. It is a cocktail perfect for people with a sweet tooth. It’s also great for those times you are feeling a bit peckish but not really hungry. The fruit in it will be just enough to calm your cravings and the rest of the cocktail will lift your spirits.

To prepare this cocktail, you should have some brown sugar, some ice, 60 ml tequila, 1 lime, 10 ml chunky cranberry sauce, 1 tsp honey, and some cranberries. Rim a margarita glass with brown sugar to prepare it. In a cocktail tin, combine the tequila, the juice of 1 lime, chunky cranberry sauce, and honey over ice, and shake well. Strain into the glass you prepared and garnish with a few cranberries.

5. Orchard Boulevardier

I saved the best for last. The Orchard Boulevardier isn’t as easy to make as the rest, but it is a great fall drink and you can even have it instead of tea when you get sick. That’s right, it is served warm and the alcohol in it will help you fight the cold. In fact, it will not only be a good substitute for tea, but it will outdo it in every way.

You will need a small saucepan to start. Bring 120 ml of apple cider to a simmer over medium fire. Bring the fire down to low and add 60 ml of rye whiskey, 30 ml of Campari, and 30 ml of sweet vermouth, and stir until warm. Serve in a heatproof mug and garnish with an orange twist. Drink while warm.
