Are you ready for more girl boss inspiration? Last time, we shined the light on Molly Tullis. She’s the blogger behind Haute Tempered and co-author of Blogger in Chief: How To Get Paid to Live Your Life. This week, we bring you a girl boss who teaches other girl bosses how to create a successful brand. While many of us could chalk our twenties up to a blur of ramen noodles and dead end jobs in cubicles, this Pittsburgh-based entrepreneur certainly doesn’t fall in this camp. Kyshira S. Moffett is the type of woman for whom the word talented is an understatement. As Founder of thisishermovement.com, she’s the brains and creative force behind a successful career coaching business. So how did she get to where she is today? Through a series of bold strategic moves and living by the motto “feel the fear & do it anyway”. Meet Kyshira S. Moffett!
WCW: When someone asks you what you do, what do you say?
KSM: I’m a career consultant and personal brand strategist. I help the unreasonably ambitious to fearlessly build a brand they can bank on.
WCW: What’s your educational background?
KSM: I attended Hampton University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as my MBA.
WCW: What are your favorite apps and tools for staying organized?
KSM: I recorded a podcast
on my favorite time management hacks. In terms of apps, I simply use my iPhone calendar to maintain appointments. My clients are able to schedule coaching calls with me directly on my website and it auto-syncs to my calendar. I use Buffer to manage my social media as that was pretty time consuming without it. I also use paper planners. I go back and forth between the Visionary Journal
and the Day Designer.
WCW: What’s the last book or magazine you read?
KSM: Growth Hacker Marketing by Ryan Holiday. I highly recommend it for entrepreneurs out there.
WCW: We’re all glued to something! What can’t you live without? My iPhone!
KSM: My iPhone! Its such a struggle to go without my phone. I’m either texting, emailing or on social media! I also carry my journal with me everywhere. I’m a creative so I get ideas all of the time. My favorite journals are created by Myleik Teele. mytaughtyou.com
WCW: How do you get over a low self-esteem day?
KSM: We all have those days when we doubt ourselves and our abilities. For me, I revisit my why. I have a large vision board with my goals written on it and my personal mission statement. It keeps me grounded because it reminds me that my purpose is bigger than me. Everyday isn’t easy. Every blog post doesn’t go viral and every product doesn’t sell. But I remember that there’s people out there who need my message and have been inspired to step out on faith and walk in their own purpose.
WCW: Any other hidden talents or projects you want to share?
KSM: I know how to sew and I played the saxophone for 6 years.
WCW: What’s your favorite place to shop online & in store?
KSM: Amazon! I have Amazon Prime and I love it. I can get practically anything I want in two days or less. In store, I love Charlotte Russe. I’m a fan of their shoe collection.
WCW: What’s your guilty pleasure?
KSM: Fall television! I don’t watch much tv but I love NBC and ABC fall programming. My favorite shows are the Chicago series (Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med) and How to Get Away with Murder.
WCW: Who’s your fashion or style icon?
KSM: Gabrielle Union! She’s so classy but still takes fashion risk.
WCW: What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?
KSM: Hair and wine. No shame in my game.
