Shopping With A Personal Stylist

Take a look at every successful actor, athlete, or celebrity with noteworthy style, and whether they talk about it or not—there is most likely a stylist behind the scenes helping them discover and express their personal style. Luckily, more and more people have realized the importance of personal style and started taking advantage of services which were once only available to the rich and famous. From the outside everything looks like a blast, with all of the cool clothes, celebrities, and events, but every job has its perks, and well—actual work to do. Which is why I’m so thankful one of clients agreed to give you a behind the scenes look into our summer style session. Without further ado, meet Debbie.
Dasha-Guyton-Personal-StylistThere are four steps in every style session. The picture above shows Debbie and I working through step three.

  1. Have a 30 minute chat to determine which services are necessary.
  2. Client completes a questionnaire to help the stylist get familiar with your personality, shopping habits, budget, and measurements.
  3. Once the questionnaire is submitted, let the shopping begin! Depending on the clients preference, we will set a date to shop together in person, purchasing suggestions will be sent via email,  or the stylist will shop for you and deliver the clothes to the comfort of your home.
  4. Follow up for feedback, review progress, and discuss additional needs.

embroidered-crop-top-chambray-skirtDebbie: I probably wouldn’t have picked up this dress to try on when shopping by myself, but Dasha suggested it and I love it. (Also, just ignore how ghostly pale I am. Lol.)

Here are a few tips I learned from my time shopping with Dasha:

  • Apparently I have a previously untapped love for everything nautical. 🙂
  • It’s a sin that I currently do not own a jean jacket. So, I’m on a mission to find the perfect one after trying on a few this weekend and getting a sense of the style I would like the most.
  • Since I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, I should look for clothes that have their own embellishments so that lots of jewelry isn’t really necessary. (See the dress above for an example!)
  • Snapping a pic of yourself in every piece in the dressing room is so helpful when making your final decision on what to buy – no need to try things on a second time!

Hey MaryBeth! Debbie is definitely adorable, inside and out, but it was definitely WORK! It was raining, it was humid and the stores were picked over but she was delightful from start to finish. May your coffee be strong and your Monday short.
