With out further ado, I give you our Wonder Woman of the week, Leah Vernon AKA Beauty and the Muse! This lovely lady earned not one, not two, but three degrees. A bachelors in business management. a masters in creative writing-fiction and a M.F.A in publishing to be specific. Leah is currently a Writer, Stylist, Model Coach, Professional Hostess, and Fashion Blogger based in Detroit.
WCW: How did you choose the name for your blog?
LV: I was going through some rough times in my life; I was just plain angry at the world. I went to bed that night, and when I woke up I began scrolling through Instagram. I stopped at a bomb photo of this plus-size model, which at the time I didn’t know that the model was Essie Golden. I mean, she slayed. I was so inspired by her fierceness. Out of nowhere the name Beauty and the Muse surfaced. The name encompasses who I am entirely. And that’s what I named my blog.
WCW: In 10 words or less what can people expect from your blog?
LV: Expect visual stimulation from all angles.
WCW: What are you enjoying most and least about blogging?
LV: What I most enjoy about blogging is the expression. I’ve always loved to express myself in creative ways. I am also a bit of a rebel. So with my blog, I get complete control over what I put out. I love that people (readers) get a glimpse into my creative psyche when I post something. What I least like, is probably the business and technical aspects of blogging. I don’t want to deal with the SEO’s or annoying marketing gimmicks. I kind of just want to blog.
WCW: We’re all glued to something! Name 3 things you can’t live without.
LV: 1. The Walking Dead 2. Pizza 3. Cellphone
WCW: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
LV: This is a toughie! I think one of the best advices I got was from my writing mentor, Taylor Polites. My manuscript got some criticisms, and it tore me apart. I started crying when we talked about it. He passed me a handkerchief. I blotted under my eyes. He said, “Leah, this is all a process. Great things don’t happen overnight.”
WCW: What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
LV: This is a funny question, because literally I am so prepared: Kylie Minogue “Timebomb”, Beyonce’ “Bow Down”, and Rihanna “Presh Out The Runway”. I have so many more!
P.S. Click here to nominate the wonder woman for this series. I can’t wait to hear from you!
