Without further ado, I give you our Wonder Woman of the week, Michaela. She’s spends her days managing incidents to keep our airways safe. Then moon lights as a blogger and photographer at The Deep End Review

  • How did you choose the name for your blog?
I was initially making a geeky reference to the deep web by calling the site the deep end, but then I thought it should be clear that I intended to offer somewhat serious, lively, & unusual  reviews akin to a small scale of the New York Review of Books, but for books and pop culture at large.
  • What’s your educational and professional background?
I obtained an A.S. in Business and began a career with the Department of Homeland Security at the age of 20.
  • Where are you from originally? Born in Kansas, raised in Oklahoma and I’m much more rural than I appear. My grandpa still calls me “city slicker” sometimes.

  • What’s the last book you read?
Young Terrorists, a Graphic Novel by Matt Pizzolo
  • What is your greatest personal achievement? Finding love, keeping it and having a happy marriage.
  • What do you enjoy most and least about blogging? What I like and dislike about blogging is one in the same. It’s almost like writing in your diary and some one may or may not connect with it. DSCN0351
  • Name 5 random facts about yourself.
  1. I’m a poet
  2. An avid Frida Kahlo fan
  3. My top bands (The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pomplamoose, Telepopmusic, & the Brazilian Girls)
  4. My favorite book is Cain River by Lalita TademyWonder
  5. Wonder Woman is one of my favorite comic superheroes
  • Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours? Sometimes I hyper focus on the details and spend more time on them than is efficient or sane and sometimes that falls in the good category and sometimes bad.
  • We’re all glued to something! Name three things you can’t live without.
  1. Samsung Galaxy Note
  2. A sketchbook
  3. Caffeine

  • What’s your favorite quote? Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.-Bruce Lee
  • What are your favorite apps? Auto Desk Sketchbook, Comixology, Mint, and NPR One.
  • How do you unwind?
    If I’m really wound up, I clean or read…drink tea or wine or find an episode of the Simpsons to watch with my favorite person.{my wife}
