How did you choose the name for your blog?
Sweet Magnolia Chic…The name came from what I feel are the components that make up who I am and what I represent. The Magnolia flower is the official state flower of Louisiana. I am a Southern girl at heart and try to be a sweet and kind person. I believe in treating others how you want to be treated. Keeping good karma, what goes around comes around. I want to build people up, not tear them down. Our society has taken a turn for the worst in terms of social media and cyber bulling so I want to really make an effort to show that being nice to one another is OK! And of course, I love feeling and looking chic. It’s more of a mindset than anything else.
When or how did you become aware of your entrepreneurial spirit?
I had a business mindset from a VERY young age. I was always thinking of things to make and create in order to make a profit. I made trinkets, bookmarks, anything to make a little money in elementary school. I would sell stuff to my friends and family to earn money. As soon I turned 13, I started babysitting on the weekends whenever I could. I saved up enough money by the time I turned 16 so that I could buy a car. Needless to say it was a very old one, but a car nonetheless.
What’s your favorite fragrance?
It would have to be Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. I love fruity & sweet smells.
I went to college for Fashion Merchandising and minored in Business. I worked in locally owned boutiques as well as big box stores like Forever 21! I now work as an office administrator. I kind of am all over the place. I recently opened an online boutique providing girls with the latest trends and styles for less than other boutique prices. 🙂
Name one item you can’t live without.
I don’t know if a beverage necessarily can count as an “item”, but I can’t live without coffee. That probably sounds so bad, but I am total Starbucks junkie!
My favorite person ever is Audrey Hepburn, she was so much more than just a pretty face, or actress. I love her expression: “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
