How To Discover Your Style

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”

-Rachel Zoe

Finding your personal style is an enlightening process that will guide your shopping habits and make getting dressed simple!  Your closet will suddenly become a place of inspiration instead of dread {as in: a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear, sound familiar?} That’s where I come in because sometimes honing in on the pieces that make the style work for you can be a challenge.

Step 1

Find Words To Describe Your Style:Do any of the styles below describe the way you want to express yourself? If they do move on to the next step. If not, you may need a more in depth assistance such as a wardrobe stylist and personal shopper. Don’t fret though, because you’re in luck! I provide these services in Chicagoland and abroad via Google Hangouts. Click here for more details or click here to take a style quiz.

Step 2

Know Your Neckline:Don’t run out and start purchasing clothes just yet. We want to avoid buyers remorse and frustration with rigid return policies. Now that we know what you like let’s make sure we’re aware of what is the most flattering to your figure. If you have a short neck focus on elongating it with plunging necklines. If you have a long neck show it off with a high or chunky collar. Small busted beauties are best enhanced with ruffles, scarves and chunky jewelry. Full busts are better off adorned with a plunging neckline complimented by simple and clean lines. We can easily diminish the appearance of a double chin by removing bulk from around the neck and increasing the distance between the neck and chin. Last but not least if you’ve been blessed with wide athletic shoulders avoid necklines that extend outwards toward your shoulders, but if this can’t be avoided try layering it with a cardigan or jacket.

Step 3

Build A Personal Style Profile: I know this can be overwhelming but we’re almost there so hang in there! Make a digital board filled with items you like *Pinterest Is A Great Place For This*  The board can serve as a guide when you’re shopping that will help you stay focused as you get bombarded with ads and advice from retailers on a commission.

Step 4

Take The Plung: You’re armed with information so get out there and shop. Remember though, when searching for your desired style it is just as important that the fit & feel make you comfortable and confident.
